The magnificent Denali National Park and Preserve quarter is the fifth of 2012 and the 15th in America the Beautiful Quarters Program designated by the US government. The Denali National Park is located in the Denali Borough and Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, with the nearest city being Healy, AL. The park was established on February 26, 1917, and is a massive 4,740,911 acres. The habit is ideal for coyotes, hoary marmots, shrews, Arctic ground squirrels, beavers, pikas, snowshoe hares, Red and Arctic fox species, martens, Canada lynx, and wolverines. Human habitation in the Denali Region extends to more than 11,000 years before the present, with documented sites just outside park boundaries dated to more than 8,000 years before the present. The America the Beautiful quarters (sometimes abbreviated ATB quarters) were a series of 56 25-cent pieces (quarters) issued by the United States Mint, which began in 2010 and lasted until 2021.
